Root Canals in Spring

illustration of a tooth and tooth rootsTooth sensitivity that came on suddenly. Discomfort that just won’t let up. If either of those sounds familiar, you’re probably trying to figure out what’s going on underneath. Sharp pain with hot or cold foods, an ache that lingers, maybe some swelling near the tooth, these are usually the signs that point toward needing a root canal. At Consultants in Dental Aesthetics, root canal therapy is built around one goal: get rid of the pain and save the natural tooth whenever that’s possible.

Here’s the part that surprises people: most root canals only take one visit. Patients walk in expecting the worst and walk out saying it wasn’t nearly as bad as they thought. If dental anxiety has kept you from booking this, or you just don’t know what to expect, our team will walk you through every step so nothing catches you off guard.

Advanced Planning for Predictable Results

Dr. Landry doesn’t touch a tooth until he’s got the full picture. Advanced 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) captures a detailed image of the tooth first, roots, canals, all of it, so the treatment plan is set before anything actually happens. Nothing about it is guesswork. During the procedure itself, damaged or infected tissue gets carefully removed. Each canal is cleaned out, shaped, and sealed to protect what’s left of the tooth. A follow-up image confirms the work is done right. And if there’s an active infection already going, antibiotics might be prescribed first, just to get things calmed down before treatment begins.

Protecting Your Tooth After Treatment

Relief tends to show up fast. Most people are back to their regular routine within a day or so. A little tenderness for a few days is normal, and it’s usually nothing an over-the-counter pain reliever can’t handle. Depending on how much of the tooth structure survived, Dr. Landry might recommend a custom crown to protect it going forward. Front teeth get different treatment, tooth-colored composite and bonding techniques keep things looking natural where it matters most.

Relieve the Pain and Preserve Your Smile

Catch an infected tooth early enough and you can usually avoid bigger problems down the road, all while keeping your natural smile intact. If sensitivity, swelling, or discomfort has been sticking around, let’s figure out what’s happening and what the right next step actually is.
